Eligibility and Priority
Children can enter preschool when they are 30 months, but they must turn 3 years old (36 months) by December 31 of the same year. Children must be toilet trained. Pomme d’Api is an inclusive preschool, located in a wheelchair-accessible building.
Registration generally occurs on a first-come, first-served basis. When registration for the next school year initially opens, spaces are filled in the following order:
returning students,
siblings of current or previous students,
children who recently left the program, and
children applying for first-time admission.
Most students start at the preschool at the beginning of the school year in September, but students may enrol for the current school year up until the end of February, if space is available. Registrations may be approved beyond the deadline with the agreement of the teachers.
If there are no spaces available when you register, you have the option to put your child’s name on the wait list. No fees are required until a space becomes available; you will be contacted if this happens.
No family will be discriminated against on the basis of language, race or ethnicity, socioeconomic status, family or marital status, citizenship, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

In addition to monthly tuition, the following apply for the school year:
Registration fee: A one-time payment of $100 due when a family’s registration package is processed (non-refundable).
Tuition deposit: A one-time payment of one month’s tuition also due at time of registration. This amount will be applied towards the June tuition. (In the case of a mid-year withdrawal, if the family provides notice at least one calendar month in advance, their tuition deposit will be applied to their final month of preschool. Otherwise, the tuition deposit will be forfeited.)
Fundraising deposit: A one-time payment of $100 (or $150 for families with two or more children enrolled) collected with the first month’s tuition payment (prorated for mid-year enrolments). Families can earn back this money by participating in fundraising activities throughout the year.
Additional fees collected only in specific circumstances:
AGM fee: A one-time payment of $25, only for families who do not attend the Annual General Meeting. (This fee will not be withdrawn from families who attend the meeting.)
Volunteer fee: Families are expected to take on a volunteer position that is suitable to their schedules and skills (approximately 2-4 hours/month or 20-40 hours/year). A fee of up to $250 will be charged to families who do not meet their volunteer hours.
Fees are subject to change annually.
